Use my chance for wood carving …

At the beginning of the wood carving...

Having a family garden during spring gives you the opportunity to observe the awakening of the nature straight out of the window! Unluckily, an old pear tree next to our house died slowly during the last years. That brought my father to the decision to cut it down. Good that I came out during the cutting process, so I asked him about his plans with the trunk. No big plans from his side gave me the chance of keeping it and make some experiences as a wood carver!

With the chisels and wooden hammer I slowly found my way of shaping the trunk. I choose easy motivs as it is my first time of practise. For now I welcome a little dwarf rasing a candle, a heart, a sun, a moon and a star. I might continue an other day but right now it is in this state. Nature will continue my work and I might add something new some time in the furture.

A craft which takes its time and let you feel your body a bit more! I enjoyed the feeling when your planned motiv appears slowly on the trunk. An art created on the screen of nature, and a good opportunity to bring back alive an old tree by continuing its story. The wooden sculpture embellishes your surroundings, and serves as a home for many small inhabitants of our world until it decompose to new earth!
